Eid al-Fitr 2027 in Morocco
Eid al-Fitr 2027, which marks the end of Ramadan, is expected on Tuesday, 9 March 2027 in Morocco.
Estimated date — confirmed by the Ministry of Habous after the sighting of the crescent (rukyat).
What is Eid al-Fitr?
Eid al-Fitr ("the festival of breaking the fast") is celebrated on the 1st of Shawwal, the day after the last day of Ramadan. It is one of the two major festivals in Islam, alongside Eid al-Adha.
The day is devoted to prayer, family visits and sharing. It closes a month of fasting, prayer and generosity.
How is the date set in Morocco?
The Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs announces the date after the official sighting of the Shawwal crescent. If the crescent is seen on the evening of the 29th day of Ramadan, Eid falls the next day; otherwise Ramadan completes 30 days and Eid follows. The date can therefore differ by a day from astronomical estimates.
The Eid prayer and Zakat al-Fitr
The morning begins with the Eid prayer (Salat al-Eid), performed in congregation after sunrise. Before the prayer, each household gives Zakat al-Fitr, a charity for those in need so they too can take part in the celebration.
